San Diego Comic Con 2012

July 13, 2012 / Artist At Work, Celebrities, Events

Nerds and fanboys, rejoice! It’s the moooost wonderful time of the year – San Diego Comic Con has rolled around again!

San Diego Comic Con is widely regarded as the end-all-be-all pop culture convention in the world, and the swarming crowds on Day 1 of the 2012 Con proved that the legacy is still holding strong. With around 180,000 visitors daily, San Diego Comic Con kicked things off with highly anticipated panels, exclusive releases, and of course the world famous costumes that will hit their peak during the Masquerade on Saturday, July 14. Cosplayers and superfans strutted their stuff down the exhibit halls, and ladies in TARDIS dresses (from Doctor Who) plus guys in Finn hats (Adventure Time) seemed to be the biggest costume presences at the Con so far.

Kidrobot’s exclusive releases (Thursday was the Cyborg Labbit with signings by creator Kozik and artist Chuckboy) created a palpable excitement in the air, and with nearby booths like Super7, Poketo, and Munky King, the high 4000 booths quickly got swarmed with fans and collectors trying to snap up exclusive merchandise.

Wheatpaste was stoked to connect with Colby (a.k.a ½ of Jolby & Friends) at the Poketo booth, where their new Adventure Time wallet was being shown – check out the EPICALLY RAD design here! You can snag Jolby’s exclusive stickable posters and other unique wall art from Wheatpaste here, but if you’re in town for San Diego Comic Con, be sure to stop by the Poketo booth for their signature artist wallets, plus super sick melamine plates, mousepads, and friendly faces!

Day 2 is in full swing today, but there are still a few more days to check out the excitement. Couldn’t snag a ticket to this year’s San Diego Comic Con? Never fear, there’s PLENTY of outside activities going on for the Con that are easy to take advantage of all over central San Diego. Crowds not your thing? Just hop onto Wheatpaste’s online shop and peruse the collection of cartoon-themed fabric wall decals and canvas wall art to deck your room to nerdy perfection.
