Get Ready for Summer Playlist by Wheatpaste Art Collective

Whether you need a summer playlist for the beach, BBQ, or party, we’ve mixed a rad variety of tunes to get your foot tapping and your head bobbing. There’s something for everyone – whether you love 90s alt rock or beachy shoegaze, this summer playlist works for anyone who loves the sun, sand, and surf of summer!

Wouldn’t It Be Nice? – The Beach Boys

The quintessential summertime song! No summer playlist is complete without at least one Beach Boys song, and while it’s hard to narrow it down, this one is hard to top. Plus, who knows more about summer than native SoCalians?!

The Only Place – Best Coast

California is truly home to the endless summer, and Best Coast took the concept to the next level when they released Crazy For You in 2010 to rave reviews. Their next full-length album The Only Place dropped last year and it’s a testament to the lush life we live here in Southern California. It’s truly the only place to be!

How Long Have You Known – DIIV

Take a chill pill with DIIV’s dreamy soundscape straight from Brooklyn. Beach pop meets shoegaze in the finest of ways.

Carried Away – Passion Pit

Originally a one-man band, Passion Pit has developed a much more complex, layered sound that meshes perfectly with any surrounding. Whether you’re relaxing in a lounge chair or getting the party started, the sweet summer hits of Passion Pit should probably be your soundtrack.

Safe and Sound – Capital Cities

This song is completely infectious. With quippy lines and a zazzy tune, you can’t help but drum your fingers and bob your head to the beat. Plus, the video is pretty rad.

Fire’s Highway – Japandroids

Not enough people listen to Japandroids. They’ve been around since 2006 and have consistently released solid tunes since then. This is just one of their latest releases that’s totally easy to jam to, so don’t miss the rest of their discography for the perfect driving summer playlist!

She’s Electric – Oasis

These 90s rock gods can do no wrong. Despite the current estrangement of the notorious Gallagher brothers, it’s easy to overlook their personal faults with such flawless songs under their wings. Cheerful yet soulful, this classic track is as familiar to most people as apple pie (and just as tasty).

Don’t Flatter Yourself – Mrs. Magician

We can’t help but love San Diego talent. Try to listen to this song and not sway along to it. You can’t!

Some Are Love – Des Ark

There may be plenty of singer/songwriter/guitarist leading ladies out there, but the music coming from Des Ark stands above the rest. Aimee Collet Argote fronts the 2 “man” band and after over a decade in the biz, she’s polished her craft into the complex, yet simple, melodies we enjoy today.

Welcome to Paradise – Green Day

Gotta end with a classic. Hate them or love them, this song is pretty much the perfect summer anthem.
