Flatstock at SXSW

Remember that time you saw Saves the Day with The Anniversary at a secret show with 30 other people (when you told your parents you were at a sleepover), or when you caught Joe Strummer's set at the Warped Tour before he passed into punk heaven? Forget 'em- you just saw Ted Leo, Crystal Castles, Lykke Li, Cold Cave, and the Hot Snakes and it was the most epic show of your entire life. Unfortunately, your Instagram account is filled with blurry photos and that ticket stub got pretty drenched with who-knows-what. What can you do to remember this glorious occasion?

Luckily for music and design fans everywhere, there's a huge genre of art for this very conundrum. Gig posters are a HUGE part of the scene, and musicians + artists have been teaming up to create this sweet, sweet music for decades. Whether you actually make it to the show or just love the art/band, gig posters are an amazing way to support artists both visual and verbal (while making your walls look pretty killer at the same time). What better place to find the perfect poster than heading to Austin for SXSW?

Flatstock 33 takes place March 14-17, 2012, and more than 100 artists from all over the place will be exhibiting at this TOTALLY FREE event that is co-presented by the American Poster Institute (API) along with SXSW. Whether you lean towards rockabilly or sway to the rhythm of shoegaze, this event promises to deliver! Just be sure to bring a pal to help you haul your goods - there's no way you're leaving empty handed.
