Austin City Limits Music Festival

Austin, Texas is already known as the Live Music Capital of the World, and they continue to reaffirm that title with the amazingness that is Austin City Limits Music Festival. Kicking things off Friday, October 12, this sold-out show runs through October 14 and holds over 70,000 music enthusiasts all in the heart of Texas.

In its 11th year, the lineup includes huge names like Iggy & the Stooges, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, the Black Keys, Jack White, along with indie faves like M83 (are they on every festival lineup this year or what?!), Florence + the Machine, The Shins, Weezer, Crystal Castles, Tegan & Sara, and Metric, and not-to-miss bands like Old 97’s, Black Lips, Los Campesinos!, Father John Misty, Kishi Bashi, and Zola Jesus. Seriously! Those are just a handful of the musical acts lined up for this year’s Austin City Limits, but since it’s long since sold out, non-ticket holders are outta luck. (Better start planning for next year!)

In between sets and need some chow? You already know that Austin is a mecca for rad eats, but Austin City Limits doesn’t just boast itself exclusively as a music festival. ACL Art Market is also taking place on the grounds of Zilker Park, so in between catching Weezer and the Black Lips, we strongly recommend heading over to the Art Market for the best of indie crafts, local vendors, and other fresh art outpourings from Austin and beyond.

Long story short, Austin City Limits is one of those rare festivals that seems eclipsed by Coachella, Lollapalooza, and other behemoth music gatherings but shines above them with all the amenities that Austin has to offer. Awesome people, great tunes, and art for everyone. We’re stoked if you’re going, bummed if you’re not, but encourage everyone to plan for the 2013 Austin City Limits today!
