We Heart Gig Poster Art

It's no secret we love gig poster art...

and based on the number of artists creating rad gig poster art today, we're not alone. Art and music already go hand-in-hand, and gig poster art is the perfect marriage of the two. We've already gushed over some of our favorite gig poster artists from Flatstock 33 at SXSW 2012, but we wanted to give a special shout-out to our very own talented artists who keep the gig poster art movement alive with their unique designs.

Art by Methane Studios transcend ordinary screenprint art. Their layered, often vintage-inspired art prints have been used by bands like the Black Keys, Broken Social Scene, Mates of State, Bright Eyes, and more. Methane Studio's gig poster art collection is vast, varied, and totally awesome.

Nate Duval prints stand apart from other gig poster art with his signature style of super detailed and funky compositions that have been sought out by Dave Matthews Band, David Byrne & St. Vincent, Superchunk, Mogwai, and even the Outside Lands Music Festival. He's also branched out from gig poster art and art prints to offer reusable grocery bags and t-shirts. We strongly recommend keeping an eye on more great things to come from Nate...

Gig poster art and the entire Aesthetic Apparatus portfolio embodies hearty American design. Based in Minneapolish, they embraced their Midwestern roots and have churned out high-quality gig poster art and design since 1999. We especially love the typograpic art by Aesthetic Apparatus, but their gig poster art selection is second-to-none with art for The Whigs, Soul Asylum, Grace Potter, Nick Cave, Cake, and more.

Paul D'Elia (a.k.a. Art 4 Punks, a.k.a. Screenin' 4 A Change, a.k.a. NXA Clothing) has been screenprinting, making zines, playing in bands, and creating gig poster art professionally for almost a decade out of the LA area. With macabre imagery and lush color combinations, his gig poster art appeals to the punk and hardcore crowd with gig poster art for Blacklisted, Night Birds, Bane, The Marked Men, Paint It Black, etc. With a solo show under his belt and a new clothing line, we're keeping an eye on Paul to see what comes next.

Whether you prefer classic rock, indie pop, or country folk, there's definitely gig poster art out there that you'll love. Wheatpaste is proud to support the indie art movement and can barely wait to see what great things our artists will create next!
