Post-Spring Break Recovery

Spring break is an awesome opportunity to unwind, but it can take more out of you than you realize! If you’re having trouble getting back into your routine, here are some tips on how to recover from spring break.

Getting a little too much sun can be a real energy drain. If you spent your spring break on the beach or tropical destination, chances are your winter skin wasn’t as prepared as it should have been! If you’ve got a bit of sunburn that you just can’t shake, get some aloe and slather it over the most affected spots before bed each night. Make sure you take cool showers and wear loose clothing to begin the healing process.

If you took spring break as an opportunity to get some work in or volunteering done, you may have overexerted yourself by staying out in the heat or forgetting to hydrate properly. Dehydration is a serious condition that can lead to fever, nausea, or even death in extreme cases.

Make sure you are getting plenty of fluids to re-hydrate yourself immediately. If you’re feeling sluggish or nauseous, take a break and snag a Gatorade! Next time you grab your hammer for Habitat for Humanity or different volunteer organization, remember to grab a bottle of water too.

Having an altered schedule for a week can throw your body off its routine. Make sure you take the opportunity to catch up on sleep if you didn’t get enough during spring break. Falling asleep in class is pretty embarrassing, so avoid it with some serious shut eye (caffeine is not an acceptable substitute!).

Facing a mountain of laundry after your spring break trip? With a higher-than-usual amount of chores to be done after spring break, it can be difficult to find the motivation to get started. Take this opportunity to tackle some belated “spring cleaning” and purge your closets to get ready for summer!

If spring break was your last hurrah before crunch time (finals anyone?), it can be nerve-wracking to re-enter the real world. Don’t stress! Make a smoothie and grab your calendar. You would be amazed how much stress you can eliminate from your life by just scheduling out a few weeks at a time. Watch your blood pressure drop while productivity rises, just by carving out some time for the gym, pesky errands, and even some down time to unwind. It’s also a great chance to start thinking about your next vacay!

Spring break can be a great chance to have fun or help someone – just remember to take care of yourself as well and post-spring break recovery will be much easier.
